Impressed with the luscious yard? The timeless lattice columns gracing the massive porch. Or is it the fact that this "Americana" style retreat backs to the largest freeway in the area that makes you love it? Oh, and did I mention that the local schools have class sizes of 35+, and are rated on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best) at a mere 4?
Well, count your pennies ladies, this house lists at $998,000.00. That's right reader. A mere $2000 less than a million dollars makes this beauty a steal in our current neighborhood.
Now, for fun, lets look a similar homes in other areas around the world.
Take this similarly sized home found in the inter-mountain west. This house has 100 more square feet, a two car garage, AC, and is located in the second best school district in the state. It's price? $125,000.00

And this is what you can buy in a small mountain town for the same price as the first house.
Oh, wait. There aren't any house listed that high. Well, here's as close as I could find.

This manse has 6 bedrooms, 8 baths and is a whopping 10,000 square feet.
Sure, it has the attractive brick finish, a view of the mountains, walk-in closets bigger than most bedrooms, and is located on a cul-de-sac on a lot over an acre in size. But who needs all that hoopla when you can have lattice?

Move back!
:D
Sounds like a reason to move to Cache Valley (although I'm sure there are reasons not too ;-)
Hey! Lattice is our friend. Wait, or is that lettuce? All this anorexia has really confused my brain.
Doug?? A reader who doesn't know me personally??? I'm in total shock...
Thanks for reading, and commenting.
Silly Amy. You think the price/value divide between Logan, Utah, and Silicon Valley is bad? It's a full 200K different than the delta between Dayton, Ohio, and Beverly Hills. Count your blessings: http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/26/real_estate/costliest_housing_cities_for_middle_managment/index1.htm
